UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

BSc Nursing Degree Programmes

This is an eight semester (four years) competency based programme leading to the Bachelor of Science in nursing degree of this University for the direct entrants, followed by a one year internship at an approved hospital. The training for equivalent entrants consists of six semesters (three years). The biomedical science courses are taught mainly during the first four semesters while nursing courses are done over the entire training period.

  • BSc N Degree Programme (Direct entrants, eight semester programme)
  • BSc Nursing Degree Programme (Equivalent Nurses, six semester programme)

BSc Nursing (Management) Degree Programme

This programme is for registered nurse entrants (mature age) and is of six semesters (three years) duration leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Management) of this University. The biomedical science courses are taught during the first four semesters while nursing and management courses are done in a concentric manner over the entire training.

BSc Midwifery Degree Programme

This is an eight-semester (4 years) programme for direct entrants and six semesters (three years) for entrants with diploma in nursing. The basic science courses are taught during the first four semesters while nursing and midwifery courses are done over the entire training period. For holders of advanced diploma in midwifery the training is of three semesters (one and half years) with identified courses in the biomedical and midwifery training to top-up their advanced diploma training. For all categories the training will lead to the Bachelor of Sciences in Midwifery degree of this University.

  • BSc Midwifery Degree Programme courses (Registered Nurse, Mature age entrants, six semester programme)

 

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Master of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing Mental Health) Degree Programme

This programme aims at producing a competent mental health nurse working in general and specialized mental health care facilities, teaching institutions, community organizations, as well as different levels of policy development and implementation in the country.

Entry requirements

(i) Applicants with a BSc Nursing degree and a minimum GPA of 2.7 of this University and who complies with the regulations set out hereunder

(ii) A graduate of a recognized University who has been admitted to the status of BSc Nursing or Equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and who complies with the regulations set out hereunder

 (iii)Each applicant must satisfy all the general requirements set out in the general guidelines and regulations for Master degree courses of the University and in Chapter

Master of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing Critical Care and Trauma) Degree Programme

Entry requirements

(i) Applicants with a BSc Nursing degree and a GPA of 2.7 of this University and who complies with the regulations set out hereunder

(ii) A graduate of a recognized University who has been admitted to the status of BSc Nursing or Equivalent with a GPA 3.0 and who complies with the regulations set out hereunder

(iii) Each applicant must satisfy all general requirements set out under the regulations for a Master's degree of this University.
